Who's Online

Using the new site PDF Print E-mail
What the site is for, how to use it, and what you can do to help!

The new site has been created after some problems using SmartGroups to commmunicate across the group. The new site has been created to achieve the following things.

  • Make it easy to find out what is going on. Particularly with regards club trips, private trips, and social events the Event Calendar should allow club members to find out what's planned.
  • Make it easy to communicate. The new site will allow group emails to be sent out with a greater degree of reliability than was possible with SmartGroups. The Club Forum should also make it easier for individual members to communicate with each other - to arrange trips etc.
  • Attract new members - The web site will appear in the Search engines, so anyone looking online for Kayaking or Canoeing in Ayrshire should find us.
To use the site:

The first thing you should do is "Register" with the site, so you can receive emails and use some of the advanced features like viewing the "Club member only" parts of the forum, submitting Event Calendar entries and the like.

I don't intend to write lengthy documentation on how to use the web site, as hopefully to anyone who uses the web, many of the features will be familiar. However I have put up some example messages and events initially to suggest ways in which the site could be used by club members...if you have more ideas, or need any help then do contact me via the contact form here.

I Hope you like it. I suggest that you register, try the site, and we have a meeting in a couple of weeks to discuss the good and bad points, and draw up some improvements. If we can meet somewhere with cheap beer as well, so much the better.

 Regards,

 Jeremy Webb.

Volunteers required:

The site is nearly complete...but every page needs some content writing for it - have a look around the site and you will spot the gaps. Volunteers are sought for this important task. You don't need web skills at this stage, you can supply your words via email or even on paper!

Please contact Jeremy Webb to offer your services - you can do this by using the contact form on the web site. Thanks!
