News on the forthcoming special pool sessions, trips and more.
Kyle Kayak Club news:
Pool Sessions:
After the success of the Sea kayak and Canoe Polo night, we have decided to put on two more special evenings at the pool.
8th February Canoe Polo– Young people in the Diving pool as usual, and in the main pool 45 minutes of free practice, followed by 45 minutes of canoe polo.
Canoe polo is played in the white boats, and players should wear a helmet and buoyancy aid. For those who have not played before, it’s a lot of fun and a surprising workout, and opportunity to test your skills of boat control.
8th March Sea Kayak – Young people in the Dive pool as usual. Sea kayaks in the big pool. This is to give people the opportunity of trying a sea kayak with a bit more space to paddle.
Sea kayaking is a great way to travel and we run weekend trips in the summer so why not try these very different craft?
Post pool beers.
A few of us have got into the habit of meeting after the pool session in the West Kirk, Ayr for a refreshing half. Please do join us!
Trips:
I am looking to team up with Stornoway Canoe Club for a trip to the Highlands to paddle some intermediate rivers (Grade 3-4) on the weekend of 6th March. If that sounds like your cup of tea, contact Jeremy at

Club Social:
You are cordially invited to a paddle and informal drinks, snacks and kayaking movies on the 31st January. Like the Christmas social this is an opportunity to chat about the club, the plans for trips and events in 2009, and just get to know other club members in unusually dry surroundings!
It's likely to be a kayak down the Doon from Riverside to Doonfoot (Grade 1-2) with a 10am start, and drinkies later. Check the FORUM for details, and to register your interest.
Web Site:
We are going to make a concerted effort this year to keep the web site more up to date with news and information. To that end, all committee members are invited to a short training session on updating the site on the 4th February. Contact Jeremy Webb for details.
You can do your bit too – please do check the site regularly and contribute your trip reports and news to the forum. If you want to find people to paddle with, again the forum is the place to go.
