Re:White Water Safety & Rescue Course 11/12 December - 2010/08/23 18:06 George

Apologies in advance to all concerned if I have got this wrong, but as it is a BCU course (unless its the foundation which I assume it's not) participants have to 16 or over.

I stand to be corrected but if Robert (Robbie)is the person I am think it is - I suspect he may well be under 16?

If that is the case (chancer I know) could I take his place.

I can also confirm I have also all the pre-requisite equipment including quick release BA, sling, knife etc etc.

Re:White Water Safety & Rescue Course 11/12 December - 2010/08/23 18:33 Hi, I'm up for this as well. I see the course is already full, what are the chances of more spaces being made available? put me down as a definite reserve if that's not possible. Ta, Phil.
P.S. I think there might be one or two more interested if it's possible to arrange more dates...

Re:White Water Safety & Rescue Course 11/12 December - 2010/08/24 13:53 Please see my post on the Foundation Safety and Rescue Training thread.

If FSRT is completed before this course, I would like to be added to the list. So by the looks of the numbers being interested adding another coach would be a consideration.

Cheers, Russ

Re:White Water Safety & Rescue Course 11/12 December - 2010/08/25 17:44 Hi All,
In regards to the WWS&R course we have planned for the 11th and 12th of December.

Fundamentally this course is designed for all white water paddlers. The objective is to teach simple and safe skills that can be applied appropriately. The course aims to: improve individuals awareness of safety skills in the river environment; teach personal survival skills; teach basic throw line rescue techniques; understand the need for structure in an emergency situation; outline basic rescue protocols that prioritise the safety of the individual above all others and to introduce and develop the clean rope principle.

The people we have that are now booked on the course are as follows:

Matt Scott
Fiona Scott
Callum McCutcheon
Willie Muir
Archie Harkness
Russell Cathcart
Phil Smith
Alan Gough
Brian Alner
Robbie Alner
George Mcmillan (I'm happy to do a refresher, If another club member wants on the course I'll bow out and give them the space)

There is space for 1 more club member.

The Pre requisites for the WWS&R course

"Due to the paddling environment and the boat control required the candidate should be: • Confident in their ability to paddle on grade 2 white water • Confident swimmers in normal canoe clothing suitable for a moving water environment • Be a minimum of 16 years of age. A first aid certificate is not a pre-requisite; however the holding of a first aid certificate is strongly recommended for all paddlers. "

Please remember that if you pull out of this course you are responsible for the total cost of the course.
Also there is no rule saying you must have been on an FSRT first.

We have 11 names of club members. 1 more space left.

If you have any questions or would like to be added to the list of paddlers attending the course call me on 07767 332601
