Sunday 9th May trip to the River Awe - 2010/05/08 12:05
I've had a look at our lack of water situation and would like to propose we go to the River Awe on Sunday the 09th of May. The River Awe has a compensated flow coming from the Dam on Loch Awe. It is a few hours drive away. We'd head up past Loch Lomond turning just after Tyndrum heading down the Oban road for half an hour till we get to Loch Awe. The river comes out of the Loch. It's a great learning river for people to hone skills. It's nice and wide and people can pick differing lines through the boulders.
My group have firmly grasped the fundamentals of river paddling I.E Edging, Breaking in and out of the flow, Edging, Ferrying and Eddying in and out of the flow. We now need more water flow to progress as the riverside section is just too low for any progress.
We'll meet at 9am at the Citadel, quickly get kit organised and then head on up to the Awe.
PS, This is for people who are feeling confident on the Riverside section of the Doon and want to experience higher water levels. g
