Diarised trips - 2010/08/30 19:58 Hi folks,
Over the last few years the one thing the club has been missing is a regular organised trip. Coaching coverage or lack of it had generated a reluctance to organise trips.

I'm now proposing a trip calendar of some sort. Hopefully online somehow for everyone in the club to see, log into, add themselves onto. Ideally this site is the best spot for it but I don't know if that's possible. (Jez is it)
So with this proposal in mind lets have a POSITIVE discussion about the pro's and cons of setting this up. Then we can all get together and have a little meeting about it and thrash out the first few trips. Once the ball is rolling we can meet again and so on. There is obviously scope for various factors to be taken into consideration.

DISCUSS

Edit: Neil I am not suggesting the Forum isn't useful for this. I just felt that it would get long winded and spread out. In the interests of our sanity I felt it best to push towards a committee meeting type of event where the people that would use the trips could come along and give there input.

Re:Diarised trips - 2010/08/31 15:19 We did used to have a callander on the site- Where's it gone? Got to be honest i'd given up looking at it there was never anything on it.

Yes the club does need some organised trips. I'm willing to help out but not until mid september as i'm just too damn busy! We also need some rain.

The sort of trips we should be running should be as discussed at the last committee meeting. They would be to bring on of some of the newer /less experienced members who are bored with / too used to the Doon.
Possible locations are the Tay: stanly to thistlebrig; The Awe, Clyde or any other bits of new grade 2 /3 that is achievable.

As to how to organise: is posting on the forum not any good?

Re:Diarised trips - 2010/09/01 19:58 My ten pence worth....

I guess you can only sort out a diary of club trips if coaching/leader cover exists in the first place; so presumably these folks would need to thrash out availability before posting dates for a proposed trip. Maybe this could be achieved by a meeting held by these identified volunteers(mugs..!only joking..) to produce a calendar on a quarterly basis?

Why not incorporate publicised events such as Paddlefest and Tay Descent? These could be great opportunities for club members to indulge in a bit of a post-paddle social(Beer and crisps?).

Hope thats some positive food for thought!
Cheers, Phil

P.S. I have access to accomodation in the Speyside area for up to 10 folk(rates by negotiation!!) if anyone fancies a trip on the Spey(great for open boats) or Findhorn!! Feel free to get in touch with me through the members directory with any thoughts/proposals.
